The charter is the heart of Dublin LGBTQ Pride ltd. It contains the direction, values and standards that Dublin Pride strives towards on behalf of the LGBTQ community. This is your chance to have a say in the Dublin Pride Charter.
Everyone is welcome to attend. This event will be ISL interpreted.
The current Dublin LBGBTQ Pride Ltd. Charter as it stands:
- Celebrates the richness and diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Community.
- Holds a festival that increases the visibility of the LGBTQ community within the wider community.
- Stages a Parade taking place usually on the last Saturday in June, commemorating the 28th June 1969, the date of the Stonewall Riot in New York and the origin of international Prides.
- Produces it own events and Programme that raise funds to finance the Festival as a whole including less financially viable minority events. All events are as inclusive as possible and diverse in their content.
- Maintains the Pride festival and Parade as non commercial , community events. Overall (title )sponsorship of is not acceptable.
- Fundraises and seeks limited sponsorship for individual events within the Festival, subject to Dublin Prides funding criteria. Whilst happy to cooperate with all interested parties, Dublin Pride will not be handed over to commercial interests at the expense of its community roots.
- Strives to provide access for everyone in the LGBTQ community, our supporters and friends, both in terms of physical access and in terms of content.
- Liaises with other organisations and groups and encourages them to produce their own events as part of the Dublin Pride celebrations.
- Liaises with all necessary bodies to ensure the safety of participants at the Parade and at other events.
- Lobbies for increased visibility and recognition for the concept of Pride within the city of Dublin.
- Endeavours to be as inclusive as possible of all elements of the LGBTQ community, including younger, older, physically and mentally disabled, queers in recovery, deaf queers, those of different ethnic origin and other disadvantaged groups.
